Ich habe gelernt zu lächeln,
auch als längst nichts mehr da war.
Von außen hat alles funktioniert.
Ich auch.
Ich habe gesprochen.
Genickt.
Reagiert.
Weiter.
Einfach weiter.
Innen war es leer.
Kein Widerstand mehr.
Kein Gefühl, das stoppt.
Das Lächeln blieb.
Ich auch.
Aber nicht mehr ganz.
 
 
Learning to Smile
I learned to smile,
even when there was nothing left.
On the outside, everything worked.
Me too.
I spoke.
Nodded.
Reacted.
Onward.
Just onward.
Inside, it was empty.
No more resistance.
No feeling to stop me.
The smile remained.
Me too.
